Financial Planning for Cancer

Developed by Family Reach, the Foundation for Financial Planning (FFP) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Financial Planning for Cancer pairs cancer patients and their families with pro bono financial planners to help them manage cash flow and debt during cancer treatment.

Financial Planning Association

How it works

Financial Planning for Cancer leverages a digital hub that matches Certified Financial Planner™ professionals with patients and caregivers to ensure consistent professional standards. CFP® professionals are educated on the unique needs of cancer patients through an eLearning program, ensuring they are equipped to provide families facing cancer with the best support possible. These professionals will meet with patients at least three times to develop a financial plan that best meets their goals.

Support offered

This unique program builds skills and confidence in financial management, aiding families from treatment to survivorship. CFP® professionals will work with patients and caregivers to:

  • Leverage budget and balance sheets, examine life, long-term care or disability insurance options and negotiate debt.
  • Formulate a plan they can execute as they move forward, protecting their financial health and in turn their loved one’s chance of overcoming cancer.
