Boston, MA [December 19, 2023] — Family Reach, a national nonprofit providing non-medical financial support to people facing cancer, has expanded its reach by acquiring More Moments More Memories.

Christi and Shelley Shaw founded More Moments More Memories in 2017 to help cover patients’ travel, meals, and lodging costs while enrolled in a clinical trial. Their success offered hope and kept the memory of their late mother, Karen, and sister, Sherry, alive. Still, Christi and Shelley wanted to extend their reach and make an even greater impact by joining forces with Family Reach.  

As part of the acquisition, Family Reach and More Moments More Memories are launching the Clinical Trial Access Program. This program will ensure clinical trial funding reaches diverse patient populations as effectively as possible. To date, 57% of those supported identify as racially or ethnically diverse. 

“Each year, thousands of patients turn down a clinical trial because they are worried about missing work and the affordability of travel and/or relocation costs,” shared the Shaw sisters. “Through the Clinical Trial Access Program, we’re leveraging Family Reach’s national network of healthcare and nonprofit partnerships to connect more patients than ever before to cutting-edge cancer care.”

“We’ve been working with More Moments More Memories for the last year, and already our joint efforts have made a tremendous impact,” shared Carla Tardif, Family Reach CEO. “We’ve helped cover food, housing, and transportation costs for 330 families enrolled in clinical trials, and we plan to more than triple that reach in 2024.”

The Clinical Trial Access Program will grow under the stewardship of Family Reach and its ecosystem of corporate and nonprofit partners. More Moments More Memories’ executives, Christi and Shelley Shaw, will continue to serve as strategic advisors and ambassadors.
