Why Donate Before 2024 Ends? CEO Shares What Your Generosity Means to Families Facing Cancer

Hi everyone,

We all likely have a personal experience with cancer, but did you know that for many, a cancer diagnosis is only half the battle.

Take a peek at what I see every day. 16-year-old Chadi and his mom, Nadia, found themselves homeless a few months into Chadi’s brain cancer treatment. Taking care of her son became Nadia’s full-time focus, causing her to lose her job, default on her mortgage, and ultimately move them into her car.

Instead of bringing her son home to a warm bed after grueling treatments, she found herself buckling him into the backseat of her car in the hospital parking lot, then driving around in search of a quiet side street to park so he could sleep. Try to imagine caring for your sick child while living in a car during a Chicago winter.

Family Reach supports tens of thousands of families like Chadi and Nadia’s each year. We connect them to long-term housing, ensure they have food to eat, and cover their car payments. Because of you, we can provide these essential resources, ensuring they have everything they need to access and adhere to cancer treatment. We increase their chances of survival.

It’s incredible what we can offer, but the truth is, we don’t have the resources to help everyone who needs us. Your support can change that. When you give to Family Reach, you’re making a tangible difference in the lives of real people facing cancer.

As Jasmine, a mother with breast cancer, put it:

“Cancer cuts our income while increasing expenses like gas, parking, and childcare. The hardest part is seeing how it’s impacting our kids, but as a family, we’re doing our best to stay strong and get through it together. When I learned I was receiving support from Family Reach, a weight was lifted. It wasn’t just about the financial help — it showed me that we’re not alone in this and that there are people who truly care. It gave me hope and strength to keep pushing forward.”

Thousands of people like Jasmine, Chadi, and Nadia need our support, and we’re committed to helping as many people as possible before the year ends.

My ask of you today is — will you join us?

With gratitude,
