Featured Family Reach Families

We’re honored to welcome three local families who
received support from Family Reach and graciously
share their stories with our larger community.

Nelson and David

Now 12 and in his third year of remission, Nelson bravely faced stage IV carcinoma with his parents and sisters by his side.

“Family Reach played a major role in Nelson’s treatment and recovery,” Nelson’s dad, David, shared. “They kept our family intact by stopping an eviction, providing meals, and reminding us that this world has more love than hate.”

Maddie and Shauna

Through several years of grueling treatment and relapses, Family Reach helped Maddie and her mom, Shauna, with food, transportation, and housing costs while Shauna took time off work and Maddie focused on getting better.

“Family Reach makes you feel like you’re human,” shared Shauna. “And they give you the chance to stay with your loved one without worrying about bills.”

Mikalo and Raquel

When young Mikalo was diagnosed with leukemia, his mom, Raquel, had to sacrifice her income and eventually her home to be by his side. Family Reach helped her secure an apartment where Mikalo could heal from his life-saving bone marrow transplant.

“I don’t know what would’ve happened without their support,” Raquel explained. “I found new strength and endurance to continue my role as a meaningful caregiver and mother. Family Reach renewed my hope.”
