[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Instead of attending high school in the fall of 2016, 14-year-old Jessica entered the world of doctors’ appointments and chemotherapy treatments. Before being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, she spent her days dancing competitively, playing violin and doing typical teen activities, all while maintaining a successful academic record.

Long road ahead

Jessica is in the midst of a three-year treatment plan that requires lengthy hospitalizations and frequent clinic visits. She lives with her mom, stepfather and older brother on Cape Cod and spends hours traveling to and from treatment. Her mom has stepped down from her position as the Chief Financial Officer at a local airline company to be by Jessica’s side while her husband looks after their son. This loss of income combined with the cost of extensive travel has placed a huge financial strain on the family.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”13819″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Helping hand

We worked directly with Jessica’s social worker to help cover the family’s mortgage and car insurance. This critical financial support helped the family stay on top of their everyday bills while under the financial strain of a cancer diagnosis.

We’re happy to report that Jessica remains positive, strong and full of hope, with her mind set on starting school in the fall!
