5 Reasons Why Giving to Hope for the Holidays Will Make You Feel Good

Reading Time: 3 minutes

‘Tis the season for extra time with loved ones and setting your “out of office” email reply! There’s always a certain excitement that comes with the end of a year, though there’s also the realization that the holidays aren’t always a joyous time for everyone.

Families who are crippled by the many costs of cancer often don’t have the luxury of buying gifts or indulging in celebratory activities because they’re too worried about keeping their heat on or affording this winter’s mortgage. It’s a harsh reality — and one that we’ve been helping families overcome for 25 years.

As we celebrate this magical time of year, we’re asking you to join us in Hope for the Holidays 2021 to remind the cancer community they’re not alone. Nobody chooses cancer, but we can choose to help one another through it.

Here are 5 reasons why you should join the giving and help spread the word about this campaign today.

1. You’re keeping families secure in their homes

Since the start of 2021, Family Reach has provided support to more than 850 cancer patients and their families at risk of houselessness. This number continues to increase as the end of the year approaches, during a time when the comforts of home are needed more than ever.

No family should have to choose between their health and their home. Your donation ensures more families can afford to stay in their homes and have one less worry.

2. It feels good to do good

It’s true — giving back to others not only helps them in a big way but it makes you feel good too. Whether you create a fundraising page, sign up for monthly donations, or share this blog post on your social media, every small action snowballs into something greater.

And remember, every donation amount makes a difference. $20 can help a family buy a holiday meal or afford to put gas in their car to access treatment. Your donation matters.

3. Inspire your network to give back with you

We achieve more when we come together. This holiday season, consider rallying your friends, loved ones, and professional network to join you in giving back to cancer patients. Many people want to do more to help others during this time of year but don’t know where to start. You can lead the way!

4. You can put smiles on these faces

There’s nothing better than seeing someone genuinely smile. You can help spread moments of joy and ease to cancer patients and families who need our support today.

When cancer enters the family, patients and caregivers are unable to afford essential bills like housing payments, childcare, and groceries on top of the many costs of cancer. For those diagnosed during the pandemic when personal financial devastation hit many, the weight of these money decisions is even heavier. Your holiday support will be a gift of incredible relief.

5. Your donation may be tax deductable

When you donate to a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit, like Family Reach, you can take an income tax charitable deduction. In other words, you’ll reduce your taxable income while supporting families in need. Yet another win-win and easy reason to make a donation today!
